BVM Congress of German Market Research 2022

The agenda for the Congress of German Market Research 2022 is out. Participants can expect a top-class programme on 20 and 21 June in Frankfurt, Germany.

This year's theme, "What People Really Think", is about how to successfully decode people and their behaviour.

The two-day event, which will be held in German, is organised by BVM Berufsverband Deutscher Markt- und Sozialforscher e.V. (Professional Association of German Market and Social Researchers).

Day 1 | 20 June
  • On the first day of the congress, speakers will demonstrate the power of their methodological approaches to human thinking and behaviour in seven presentations in Pecha Kucha format.
  • The nominees for the Innovation Award 2022 and young scientists will present the state of the art in market research to the congress audience at the German Market Research Award.
  • Just in time for the first day of the event, the annual print publication "Jahrbuch der Marktforschung" will be published for the first time on 20 June. As the successor to the BVM Handbook, it will not only contain a directory of service providers, but will also include an extensive magazine section with over 50 pages on current trends in the industry.

Day 2 | 21 June
  • The second day of the congress is dedicated to ethics and quality in market research. Experts will speak on topics such as bias in machine learning, fake news and pseudo studies as well as blockchain in market research.
  • In addition, various discussion panels will explore the question of how panel operators permanently monitor their test persons and samples, how company market researchers ensure the quality of their projects and what companies and brands expect from market research.

Special highlights

The keynotes:
  • Prof. Dr. Armin Nassehi, Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität Munich.
The logic of consumption: What people really want - a social inventory
  • Jens Lönneker, rheingold salon. What is fake - desire or reality? Theses and attempts to explain the mind-behaviour gap
  • Prof. Dr. Dr. h. c. Julian Nida-Rümelin, former Minister of State. Epistemic reality: What can we really know? On dealing with data, facts, hypotheses and theories in the age of digitalisation
  • Cabaret artist Florian Schroeder will conclude with inspiring insights into the state of mind of society: "I am of my opinion".

The evening event:

Of course, the first day of the congress will end with the traditional evening event in the form of an informal get-together, where the focus will be on dialogue and exchange among the congress attendees. The location will be the Frankfurt Embassy.

"We feel a very great anticipation to meet again in person and to get to know each other. That's why we have chosen both the spacious location and the top-class speakers with special care, in order to set a highlight in terms of content, but also in terms of atmosphere after a period of rather little personal contact."
Christian Thunig, BVM board member and congress manager
