Press conference „New start of trade fairs in Bavaria“

succeet21 Munich event will take place

A great signal from Messe München and the Bavarian Ministry of Economic Affairs: trade fair events will be held again in Bavaria from 1 September 2021 at the latest – under optimal infection control conditions. This was announced by the Bavarian Minister of Economic Affairs and trade fair officials at their press conference "New start of trade fairs in Bavaria" on 16 June 2021. succeet was there.

Window to the world

"Our concepts are watertight," assures Minister of State Hubert Aiwanger, looking forward to the new start of trade show events in autumn. "The risk of infection at trade fairs is lower than in everyday life." Aiwanger regards trade fairs as "windows to the world", and as "the best economic stimulus package". Bavarian trade fair companies, he says, have earned a top position in the global trade fair market in recent years, which must be maintained. "That is why it is important to now give trade fair organizers, exhibitors and visitors planning security for a successful resumption of trade fair business.“

On the safe side

"A visit to a trade fair must be at least as safe as a visit to a supermarket or DIY store," clarifies Klaus Dittrich. The Chairman and CEO of Messe München is highly confident: "In the past few months we have been working hard on the safety standards and are now excellently prepared for the new start with an optimal safety and hygiene concept."

Thus, in addition to distance, facemasks and traceability of participants, the regulations also include the so-called 3G concept: access is only granted to persons who have been demonstrably vaccinated, recovered or tested (in German: geimpft, genesen, getestet – 3G). On the subject of testing, Dittrich recommends coming to the sites with a valid negative test certificate so as not to waste time at the entrance. Further protection for exhibitors and visitors in the exhibition halls is provided by modern ventilation systems that guarantee a regular and reliable supply of fresh air, as Dittrich assures.

What if COVID incidence rate rises again by autumn? Minister of Economic Affairs Aiwanger says: "From today's point of view, we do not assume that trade fairs will have to be cancelled again" – which he attributes to the 3G concept, the vaccination rate and the mature safety concepts.

Nothing compares to real encounters

Digital events can "build bridges" as state-of-the-art complements to face-to-face events. However, they cannot fully replace real F2F encounters. For Peter Ottmann, first Deputy Chairman AUMA Verband der deutschen Messewirtschaft and CEO NürnbergMesse, presence events score above all in terms of new business: "You look at the exhibitors' offers and realise: they have a solution to a problem that I wasn't even aware of!"
This creates countless opportunities to make low-threshold contact and initiate business – all players are gathered in one place.

All gathered in one place – that's succeet21. We will be happy to present a platform for the entire spectrum of the insights industry in October. We look forward to welcoming you in Munich – there's nothing like meeting in person after all.
